I'll try this blog thing out!

My mother-in-law and sister-in-law have been blogging for a while. They have encouraged me to do the same, but I was hesitant. I've decided that I would rather blog than to have a caring bridge page. Caring bridge is a wonderful tool, but it seems so serious to me. I am not accepting the fact that I have a serious enough illness to constitute the use of caring bridge.

Thank you to all those people who have been praying for me and my family. The prayers and support that I have felt from so many wonderful people have helped me to deal with this diagnosis.

What is my diagnosis? I have invasive ductal carcinoma... breast cancer. It is very aggressive and is what they call triple negative (which apparently is not a good thing). I had surgery this past week and had a mastectomy with 35 lymph nodes taken out. Of the 35 lymph nodes only 1 had cancer present. The tumor size and the lymph node involvement puts me in a stage 3A. I just realized that they took out 1 lymph node for every year of life I have lived thus far... interesting!!

If I continue this blog it will not be all about cancer. I am way more interesting than cancer. I have a great sense of humor that I'd like to share with you guys! I also have a few cute kids that I will share pictures of and stories about. We'll try this thing out....
